I like to make games. Currently, this page is made up almost exclusively of fangames. One day I'll stop goofing around with fangames and get serious (I've got a number of ideas) but I'd rather get some of these projects out of the way first. Obviously, the older these games are, the lower their quality is going to be - so downloader beware!

Completed Projects
Sonic 2K6 2D - The Last/Lost Version (2011)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 1 | Download: Here (33.6mb) |
For almost four years, a 70% complete build of this game was lost on an old, busted harddrive. Finally regaining access to the four-year-old code, I polished some of it up and released it as-is. It's still a little broken in spots and is definitely not feature complete, but I'd say it's worth playing regardless. While downloading, I strongly urge you to read the Readme.html here.
Luigi's Boo Haunt (2009)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 1 | Download: Here (5.19mb) |
Halloween Game Project for 2009. At its heart, Pac-Man with a Luigi's Mansion twist. Vacuum up Boos, use Mario Kart power-ups and collect coins to compete for the highest score. Clear the board, move to the next floor, start all over again. Simple, yet addicting, and kind of buggy - I programmed the game over the course of a weekend.
The House (2006)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (13.7mb) |
This was more of a gameplay experiment than it was an actual game. I was fascinated by what players find scary, so this was a testing bed for various ideas. Most impressively features an A.I. Director like the one implemented in Left4Dead - a good two years before Left4Dead was even released! Also, no lie: I pilfered some of the stories found within the game's books from the internet without crediting the original authors. I meant to replace them with original stuff and never got around to it and by now it's way too late for that and I don't even remember who wrote what. I hesitated putting the game up for that reason alone!
Super Mario: Blue Twilight DX (aka. "MarioWeen DX") (2005)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 1, 2 | Download: Here (14.0mb) |
The original MarioWeen was, you guessed it, a short holiday game project - a four level Mario fangame that blended elements of Super Mario 64 with 2D Mario mechanics. I spent the next year crafting MarioWeen DX, a vastly improved version of the original game with more than twice the levels and tons of secrets. By far my most popular game, it has been featured on Attack of the Show, in numerous magazines world-wide, and has been downloaded more than one million times total since its release.
Last Minute Shopping (2004)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (692kb) |
Christmas Project... 2004? A very ugly, very simple Metal Gear Solid clone, about a Dad who sneaks in to a department store after-hours to get his kid some Christmas gifts. Grab the presents, avoid security guard detection, and get out before the clock strikes Midnight! Like a lot of Holiday projects, this was completed over the course of 2-4 days.
Orb-It (2001)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (453kb) |
My very first attempt at making an original arcade-ish sort of game. Rotate paddles around the earth and defend against meteors or something. Sort of weird and janky. Maybe I'll revisit it one day now that I'm more experienced. |
Active Projects
Sonic Forever (????)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (0mb) |
Yep, another Sonic fangame. Initially born out of a sense of "Gee, anybody with half a brain could make a game this plagaristic" after seeing Sonic the Hedgehog 4, it eventually morphed to incorporate elements of Retro Game Challenge in an effort to stoke the fires of nostalgia as fiercely as possible. I openly admit this may not ever get completed!
Castlevania: Ballad of Autumn (????)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 1 | Download: Here (7.48mb) |
This was supposed to be a Halloween project for 2008, but rather than do something short I vowed to do something a bit larger in scope. Unfortunately that was also the first Halloween I made a serious effort to do my live "The Graveyard Shift" webcast, so after its first demo, Castlevania got pushed aside. All of the pieces are in place for this one, I just have to put in the effort to get more levels done. |
Inactive Projects
Sonic: The Fated Hour (2001)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (0mb) |
An on-again-off-again project that spanned the course of about ten years, The Fated Hour (TFH for short) was intended to be a Sonic the Hedgehog game styled after Metroid and Castlevania. Eventually I would get bogged down in minutae until I burned out on the project and shelved it for a few more years. It eventually became apparent to me that the project was too ambitious - on top of that, I started the game when I was 16, and a lot of the concepts were... for lack of better terminology, "immature". Rather than be the kind of guy who lies to himself and lets a game languish in development hell forever, I killed the project for the greater good of all.
Shadow of Chaos (2005)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Uber Demo (15.4mb) |
Another case of me seeing a trailer for a Sonic game and saying, "Man, I could do that." This time, it was for a game I didn't even like. Regardless, I ended up creating a basic engine with some Sonic Battle sprites, but I didn't really want to design any levels. So, instead, I tried to crowd source some stages through a level design contest. It didn't go as well as I had hoped. Eventually I got distracted with other projects and forgot about Shadow of Chaos, only to lose everything in the same HDD crash that claimed Sonic 2K6 2D. Now that I have the data again, I really don't care to finish this game at all.
Super Mario: Blue Twilight EX (2006)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (3.17mb) |
I eventually grew to hate MarioWeen's controls; I tried to pattern them after the springy feeling of Super Mario Sunshine, but in the end, they just aren't very good. A friend of mine pestered me all throughout its development to fix them, but I never relented. After DX was released, he offered to go back through and re-code the physics so the game played like Super Mario Bros. 3. I agreed, sent him the source code, and this was the end result. He never got any further than this before heading off to college, but we discussed adding a couple of new bosses and whatnot.
Over the years I have gotten the itch to make various Mario things, which usually ends up with me coding something and then never doing anything with the code. So here they are! Includes playable EXEs and Source Code.

Yeah, I don't even know. Boredom struck! Includes playable EXEs and Source Code.

Donkey Kong Country Jungle Beat Something (2007?)
Images: 1, 2, 3 | Video: 0 | Download: Here (5.13mb) |
"Hey! Let's do something like Donkey Kong Country but try and make it like DK Jungle Beat and oh uh wait no designing levels for this is going to be way more work than it's worth." Included is a full background rip from DKC; I didn't rip them, and don't remember who did, but they were in the same folder and may be useful. Includes playable EXEs and Source Code.
